Overview:
Shannon Sivak and Steve Vera will be leading an overnighter ride down to San Diego.  We’ll leave Glendale Harley at 8 AM sharp on June 21st (Saturday) and make our way out to Julian for lunch.  After lunch, we’ll be taking the back country roads through Barona Reservation to reach our hotel destination, which officially ends the chapter ride. After checking in, we’ll head out to Old Town or Gas Lamp District for dinner and socializing.  Public transportation options include the Green Line Trolley or Uber and both stop at these locations.  For those not staying overnight they can ride home.

 

On Sunday, June 22nd the group will visit the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum (tickets are $39 for adults/$26 for veterans).  After touring the museum, the group will have lunch at Seaport Village and visit the unique shops and boutiques.  We’ll then carry onward to the Gas Lamp District for additional sightseeing before deciding on the numerous dining options.  For those not staying a second night, they can ride home at any point in the day.

 

On Monday, June 23rd the group will meet for breakfast to let the morning commuter traffic ease up before making our way back home.

Step By Step Route Directions

1.      Glendale Harley to Ortega Highway via I-5 South

2.      Ortega Highway ends at Grand Avenue and turn Left.

3.      Take Grand Avenue to Riverside Dr. and turn Right.

4.      Take Riverside Dr. to Collier Avenue and turn Right.

5.      Take Collier Avenue to Central Avenue and turn Left and get on I-15 South.

6.      Take 1-15 South to the first exit (Main Street) to Chevron (510 N Main St, Lake Elsinore).  First gas stop. (Approximately 95 miles).  All should gas up at this stop.

7.      South on I-15 to Temecula Parkway East.  Stay in the right lane as you pass under the I-15 as you will make a Right on Pechanga Parkway.

8.      Take Pechanga Parkway to Pala Mission Road.

9.      Turn Right on Pala Mission Road and go to the traffic light and turn Left on CA-76.

10.  Continue on CA-76 until it ends at CA-79 and turn Right.

11.  Take CA-79 all the way to Julian.  Second gas stop (Approximately 71 miles from first gas stop).

12.  Reverse route, and get back on CA-79 and turn Left at CA-78 (Julian Road).

13.  Take CA-78 to Old Julian Highway and turn Left.

14.  Old Julian Highway will dead end at Vista Ramona Road and turn Left.

15.  Take Ramona Road to Arena Way and turn Left.

16.  Take Arena Way to Gunn Stage Road and turn Right.

17.  Take Gunn Stage Road to San Vincente Road and turn Right.

18.  Take to Wildcat Canyon Road and turn Left.

19.  Take Wildcat Canyon Road to Mapleview Street and turn Right.

20.  Take Mapleview Street to San Vincente Freeway (CA-67) South.

21.  Take San Vincente Freeway to I-8 West towards San Diego.

22.  Take I-8 to Hotel Circle Exit which is immediately past Highway 163.  Turn right on Hotel Circle North and follow it under the I-8.  The Best Western is immediately on your left. (Approximately 58 miles from Julian).

23.  RIDE IS OFFICIALLY OVER AFTER THE GROUP REACHES THE HOTEL.

We are staving at the Best Western (Seven Seas).  then taking a trolley for evening exploring.
